Up To Date Video Gaming Analysis (Well, Not Really)
So it's been a good minute since I've actually provided any worthwhile insight. And odds are that streak will continue after reading this piece. Anyways, the last few weeks have just been rough on me. I just feel like i'm starting to get burned out on everything. I'm already tired of school and can't wait for this final semester to be over. And I'm only taking two classes. On a related note, I decided not to go to my reunion which was last weekend. Like I said before, none of my close friends were planning on attending, so what's the point? I think I'm going to get a new tattoo with the money I didn't spend on the event.
Work is as good as it can be. I like where I work and most of the people I work with, it's just the line of work that is starting to get to me. A few days ago I realized that I've have been waiting tables for 25% of my life now. I don't know about you, but I find that slightly depressing. And it's not like I can do much about it. Being a waiter is by far the best job you can have while in school, as far as the hours and money are concerned. More than likely, I will have to continue waiting tables until I'm done with grad school. That's just the way it is. So yeah, work and school are going just great right now.
We haven't had a proper band practice in a couple months, so that outlet has been unavailable. It was an escape two nights a week from all my other concerns. When we would all be on point, it was such a great thing, I'd find myself caught up in the moment and nothing else really mattered. Unfortunately, it's been real hard for all of us to get our schedules in sync this fall. Tristan and I both go to school and work. Shaun and Stephen are becoming cult heroes in the world of web design, and are both working for Squarespace now. And by the way, congrats to both of you on that. And of course Shaun was in France for most of September. I don't know, I hope we'll be getting back on track real soon.
And I'm sure this is probably related to the topics above, but my insomnia has reappeared for about the last week or so. I haven't been able to fall asleep before 5 AM in close to ten days. And I've been trying to do all I can to fall asleep earlier. It's just not working. Oh well, I'll get back on the right sleep schedule sooner or later. Sometimes it last for a week or two and other times it goes on for a month or two. So now that you all know that everything is going swimmimgly for me, my origianl intent here was to write a little bit about some video games. After all, this is still a video gaming related website. At least I think it is, although my recent contributions aren't doing much to help this argument. So I figured I should maybe do something about that.
Well, Rock Band 2 has been out for close to a month now. I guess it's about time that I weighed in my thoughts on this game. And since bullet points are so much fun, I'm gonna throw one of my famous lists of randomness out there,
- I'm still amazed at how diverse and eclectic the song list is.
- Some of these songs are damn near impossible on expert.
- Although I'm still not big on the developers' bands being in the game, I think I'm secretly starting to kind of enjoy those Bang Camaro tunes. They remind me of Hysteria-era Def Leppard.
- And what's up with that Guns N' Roses song? This is not the G N' R that I remember listening to growing up. And the song is really hard to play, which makes me hate it even more.
- I know it's hard to do while playing, but try to check out the onstage action while you're playing. There's some good stuff going on there.
- So far, the new downloads have been great.
- Blood Sugar Sex Magik is well worth the almost $20 in points that it cost.
- I wish they had picked a different Motley Crüe album. Too Fast For Love or Shout at the Devil would've been so much better.
- That being said, "Kickstart My Heart" might be the most fun song ever to play on that game.
- There is a Nirvana track pack coming out today. That should be pretty sweet.
- I'm amazed that so many people out there have already maxed out their fans in the game. Don't you people have anything else better to do?
- On a related note, The Larry David Sandwich is the greatest Rock Band 2 band out there.
- I hate to say it but the Grateful Dead songs are a lot of fun to play.
- I will probably never finish the Endlist Setlist.
- The challenges and Battle of the Bands options are a nice new feature.
- "Crackity Jones" by the Pixies is a lot harder than the difficulty ratings indicate.
- Could that song by Interpol be any longer?
- I still hoping that there will be a Superchunk track pack released in the future.
