DenverI'm not sure if anyone noticed, but I basically disappeared from the site for the past six months. I have my theories as to why...we'll get to that in a minute. Needless to say, I haven't really felt much like writing as of late. It looks like that's all about to change...maybe...hopefully.
"So," you may be asking yourself, "Mr. Lee, what the fuck have you been doing for the last six months?" The short answer is settling in to life in Denver. My struggle of a job search never panned out like I had planned, but luckily things still worked out for me. For those who remember, I was working part-time at the front desk of a medicinal marijuana dispensary when I first moved out here.
Fast forward to now and I'm still working there, but I'm essentially the manager of the place now. It's a sweet job, but I'll go into more details about it in another post. I've had a total of four days off the last month and a half, but it still is worlds better than waiting tables or bartending. Sure, I've had no social life this summer, but it's not like I would've acted on it if I did. 'Tis the nature of Rowe, my friends.
Aside from this continually pathetic love life of mine, I'm probably the happiest I've been in years. And that is probably the main reason my writing frequency has declined to almost nonexistent. The more I think about it, I'm pretty sure the reason I wrote so much back when I lived in Kentucky was frustration/boredom/anger/etc. I wasn't happy in Lexington and writing was an excellent outlet for me.
Moving to Denver was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Aside from the mental happiness and well-being, I've also gotten myself in better shape. I've lost about 40 lbs. since February and still have another 20 lbs. or so to go before I'm done. I'm in the best physical shape I've been in since my freshman year of high school. Of course, quitting cigs was key...going on twenty months strong now.
I really don't have anything else to add at the moment. I just thought that both of my loyal readers deserved an explanation. Don't expect me to write with the frequency I used to, but I'll try to write 2-3 posts a week. Sorry again that I disappeared for a bit, but we all need to sometimes.
"Thrifty Thursdays" will be on an indefinite hiatus for now, but I think I'll bring the "Record of the Week" feature back by the end of the month.
